Len Blavatnik was born in Odessa (Ukraine) in June 1957. He immigrated to the United States in 1978. He studied at Columbia University and Harvard Business School. He is married to Emily Blavatnik. They have 4 children.

In 1996 Blavatnik founded the investment company Access Industries. He started with Russian investments, after the fall of communism. But later diversified to international investments. Such as chemicals, oil, aluminum, media and real estate. He is a business partner of Viktor Vekselberg, who owns the yacht Tango.

Blavatnik’s current investments include Warner Music Group, UC Rusal, LyondellBasell and Rocket Internet. He also invests in Zalando and the famous Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat on the French Cote d’Azur.
