The Golden Odyssey yacht was built as project Tatiana at Lurssen Yachts. She was delivered to her owner in 2015. She is designed by Martin Francis, who is also responsible for the design of Golden Shadow. Which is also owned by the Prince.

Interior
The motor yacht has an interior design by the late Alberto Pinto. The yacht has a dedicated owner’s deck with a forward-facing owner’s suite and an aft-facing ‘madam’s suite. Both suites have a large dressing room. The deck also includes a spa with Hamman, steam room, and a treatment room. The yacht has accommodations for 36 guests, and 76 crew and staff.
Other features include a large swimming pool, a hairdressing and beauty salon, a hospital with dedicated dental facilities, and even a doctor’s consultation room.
Who is the Owner of the yacht GOLDEN ODYSSEY?
The yacht’s owner was Saudi Prince Khaled bin Sultan al Saud. We were told Prince Khaled has never set a foot on board the yacht since he ran out of funds around her delivery. The yacht also never had any (loose) interior installed.
In the Paradise Papers – a set of leaked offshore investment documents – it was disclosed that the Prince owns the yacht Golden Odyssey through a Bermudan offshore company named Actaeon Shipping Ltd.
The yacht was arrested and auctioned in Malta, as the Prince defaulted on a load, that had the yacht as collateral.
Her new owner is a Chinese billionaire, who is also building a large new yacht at Lurssen.

Sold at Auction
In October 2022 the yacht was sold at auction for a reported $150 million.
The yacht was arrested in Malta on behalf of Deutsche Bank Luxembourg as part of its efforts to enforce its mortgage against it for outstanding debt in excess of €116 million.
The (legal) owner Kal Marine Limited, had secured a loan from the bank in 2013 and had used the vessel as collateral.
The vessel was bought by a British Virgin Islands company named East Thrive Peace Limited.
80 meter Golden Odyssey
Golden Odyssey is a replacement for the owners’ previous and same-named 80 meter yacht. The yacht was renamed Golden Odyssey II and later named Grand Ocean.
Grand Ocean Yacht
Superyacht Grand Ocean was built at Blohm&Voss in 1990.
Grand Ocean can accommodate 14 guests and has a crew of 25. She had a refit in 2017.
