The yacht Serene is one of the largest yachts in the world, with a length of 134 meter (or 439 ft). According to official (mortgage) document, she was originally planned to be named Serena.

The yacht Serene was built for Yuri Shefler (his name is sometimes spelled as Yuri Schefler).
Shefler is shareholder and founder of the SPI Group. SPI Group is a leading spirits company and one of the most important drinks groups in the world. After leaving the Russian army in September 1987, Shefeler studied at the Russian Academy of Economy before starting a business career which has included running one of Moscow`s leading shopping malls and heading Vnukovo Airlines. Yuri Shefler had a vision of building an integrated spirits business – controlling everything from production to distribution and sales. Through a series of deals he added distilleries, a retail network in Russia and the Baltic states and significantly developed an international distribution arm.
In 1997 he bought a company that became the heart of what has grown into SPI today. One of the famous brands of SPI is the Vodka Stolichnaya. SPI now operated in over 160 markets and distributes around 400 brands.
