Sold to the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia
In August 2015 SuperYachtFan was informed that Mr. Yuri Shefler had sold Serene. For an amount of EUR 350 million to an Arab billionaire.
And – not really to our surprise – Serene arrived in Jeddah in early September 2015. Later we were told that King Salman of Saudi Arabia or one of his sons is the new owner of Serene.
Prince Mohammad bin Salman
We also found some info claiming that Salman’s son Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman owns the Serene yacht now. We were told that Prince Mohammad also owns the yacht Pegasus VIII.
And to our surprise, in October 2016 both Serene and Pegasus were in Vlissingen The Netherlands at a refit yard.
In August 2017 Serene run aground in the Red Sea near Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The yacht was reportedly bow-up on the rocks. She sustained structural damage to the bulb, bow, and hull.
The cause was thought to be a navigational track error and propulsion failure.
According to Bloomberg Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece, Salvator Mundi is kept on the yacht. MBS bought Salvator Mundi at an auction for US$ 400 million.
The yacht’s former owner is Yuri Shefler. He sold the yacht to Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
