Who is King Salman of Saudia Arabia?

Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the King of Saudi Arabia. He was previously Crown Prince and Minister of Defense. King Salman is the 25th son of the late King Abdulaziz and a member of the Sudairi Seven.

He was born in 1935 and was raised in Murabba Palace in Riyadh. The complex of palaces was built in order of King Abdulaziz.

Governor of Riyadh

Salman bin Abdulaziz was governor of Riyadh Province, until the death of his brother Crown Prince Sultan in 2011.

Prince Salman was then appointed Minister of Defense and named as a member of the National Security Council.

In 2012 Prince Salman was appointed the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia after the death of his brother Nayef bin Abdulaziz.

King of Saudi Arabia

And in 2015 he became King when his half-brother King Abdullah died. Salman and his family are shareholders in the Saudi Research and Marketing Group which publishes daily papers as Arab News and Asharq Al-Awsat.

In 1985 the second son of the King, Prince Sultan bin Salman became the first person of royal blood, the first Arab, and the first Muslim to fly in outer space aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. More about the King here.

Salman is now King and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The King and his son Mohammed have led many reforms in Saudi Arabia, including a decree which allows Saudi women to drive cars.

Panama Papers

In an April 2016 report, known as the Panama Papers, it was disclosed that the Saudi King is the ‘principal user’ of a motor yacht named Erga.

We do not think that this information is correct, but the name Erga could be a code name. The King owns a Palace in Riyad named Erga. But we do not think a yacht named Erga exists. It is public knowledge that Salman has personally owned the yacht Tueq since 2002.

Crown Prince Mohammed

His son Mohammed bin Salman is the current Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. Mohammed – often referred to by his initials MBS – is the owner of the yachts Lightning and Serene.

He purchased the yachts in 2014 and 2015 and send them both to Damen in the Netherlands for a refit.

MBS is a very influential figure in the Middle East.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman was linked by Turkey to the disappearance of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018. But the Saudi government denied his involvement. The situation created tension in the Royal Court.

How Much is King Salman Net Worth?

Not much is known about his net worth. But some sources estimate an amount of $18 billion. He is one of the richest royals in the world.

The Royal Family of Saudi Arabia is one of the wealthiest families in the world, with a vast portfolio of assets and investments. However, the exact extent of their wealth and the details of their assets are not publicly available, as the family is known for its privacy and secrecy.

It is estimated that the family’s wealth is comprised of holdings in real estate, energy, construction, media, and other industries. The family also owns several high-end hotels, including the George V in Paris and the Plaza in New York City, and is said to have a significant stake in several large multinational corporations.

In addition to these assets, the royal family also controls the majority of the country’s land and resources, including oil reserves, and has significant influence over the government and its policies. They have also invested heavily in infrastructure projects and initiatives aimed at modernizing and diversifying the country’s economy.
