Ownership History of the Yacht Lady Charlotte
Originally owned by Dutch millionaire and founder of Beelen Groep, Wim Beelen, the yacht’s ownership changed hands multiple times. Prior to Beelen’s ownership, the Lady Charlotte had a rich history, initially named Katrion by her first owner, the late Keith McCaw of McCaw Cellular Communications. After Beelen sold the yacht in 2022, she gained her current name, Lucky US.
Update: It seems the yacht is still owned by Wim Beelen. Until recently he had a co-ownership with Bernhard ten Brinke. And the yacht was named after Bernhard ten Brinke’s daughter Charlotte. The yacht is now fully owned by Beelen who named her Lucky US yacht.
The McCaw Legacy
Keith McCaw, alongside his three brothers, inherited the telecommunications giant, McCaw Cellular Communications. Upon his untimely death in 2002, his widow, Helen McCaw, opted to cancel one of their ongoing Feadship projects, the yacht Utopia. However, she maintained ownership of Katrion for several years before selling it to Dutch entrepreneur Laurens Last in 2015.
The Last Era and Beyond
Laurens Last, a prominent figure in the Dutch packaging industry and founder of the Innovative Packaging Network (IPN), was the next owner of the yacht. With IPN’s merger with Scholle Corporation, Last has solidified his reputation in the packaging sector. He is also a noted philanthropist with various projects in India.
Last’s Net Worth
With a substantial fortune of around USD 250 million, Last leads a successful career and a prosperous personal life.
