He was also the owner of Project Sassi, the 145 meters Lurssen yacht which was destroyed in a fire in 2019. We were told Sassi will be rebuilt, or at least that a new yacht will be built to replace ‘Sassi’. Do you know more? Please do send us a message.
Buste De Femme
In 1999 a Picasso painting (“Buste de Femme”, a painting of Dora Maar) worth US$ 30 million was stolen from the yacht Coral Island. Early 2019 the painting was found at the home of a Dutch real estate developer, who acted in good faith and was not aware of the theft. He returned the painting to her owner. Buste De Femme was painted by Pablo Picasso in 1938. Source: https://www.pablo-ruiz-picasso.net/work-1792.php
The yacht was built as Coral Island and kept that name for more than 20 years. In 2016 the yacht’s owner ordered the 145 meter Project Sassi. Reportedly he sold Coral Island to Lurssen Shipyard’s CEO Peter Lurssen. Around that time she was sent to Lurssen for an extensive refit. Since then she was renamed Coral Ocean and was made available for charter through Burgess.
In 2019 she was sold to Australian waste entrepreneur Ian Malouf.
