Known investments of Lampert are Sears Holding, Autonation (the largest U.S. retailer of new cars, trucks & SUV), Land’s End (the fashion brand founded by the late Gary Comer, former owner of the yacht Turmoil), Autozone (a leading auto parts retailer) and Footstar Inc (a now bankrupt shoe retailer).
Lampert owns about 48% of Sears stock, according to the company's annual report, including holdings through ESL Investments.
Besides his stock, Lampert holds about US$ 381 million in unsecured notes issued to Sears.
Lampert lives in a large house in Greenwich, Connecticut (close to New York City), but he also owns a US$ 40 million mansion on the Indian Creek Golf Club Island in Miami, Florida.
The house is considered to be the 34th most expensive home in Florida.
