Adding to the yacht’s uniqueness is a wooden figurehead sculpted to resemble Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, a renowned American media personality.
The name KORU derives from the Māori word for “loop or coil,” symbolizing new life, growth, strength, and peace in their art. The reference to the spiral shape represents continuous movement and a return to the point of origin. This symbolism has been embraced by Bezos himself in a post on Instagram, highlighting the concepts of growth, renewal, rebirth, and mindfulness.

A custom-built vessel, it serves the purpose of carrying all the toys and tenders of the main yacht and features a large helicopter hangar. The delivery of Sailing Yacht KORU was anticipated to involve dismantling part of Rotterdam’s historic Koningshaven Bridge. However, this didn’t occur as the yacht’s masts were stepped after the vessel passed the bridge. On the other hand, ABEONA stands as thelargest vessel in the Damen Yacht Support range, boasting a volume of 1,900 tons. Both vessels represent an exciting development in the world of luxury yachting, drawing attention from enthusiasts globally.
With an estimated net worth of $160 billion, Jeff Bezos is known for his affinity for the sea. Rumors of him owning the yacht “Flying Fox” were dismissed by his representative, but he does own a Gulfstream G650ER private jet.
