SY Black Pearl is a 106-meter sailing yacht, built by Oceanco. The design is based on the 96-meter dynarig project by Ken Freivokh. Later in the project, Nuvolari Lenard became involved.
But their contract was canceled and Freivokh was rehired to finish the project. Black Pearl is the first sailing yacht for Oceanco. Not much is known about her interior. The Black Pearl yacht was delivered to her owner in March 2018.
She features a 3 mast Dynarig system. The masts are freestanding with the yards attached rigidly to the masts. To adjust the angle of the sails, the entire mast rotates in place.
When fully deployed the sails have no gaps at all between them, creating a single panel to capture the wind. It is estimated to have twice the efficiency of a traditional square rig.
The sailing yacht has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. She is powered by 2 MTU diesel engines. Under power, her max speed is 15 knots. Her cruising speed is 12 knots.
The luxury yacht can accommodate 12 guests. We estimate her crew at least at 18. As far as we know, no interior photos have been released.
