She married Helmut in 1966 at the age of 25, while he was 57. In 1987 she inherited a $1 billion fortune from him. She was the owner of the yacht Carinthia VII.

Helmut Horten
Helmut Horten (1909 – 1987) was a German entrepreneur who built up the fourth-largest chain of department stores in Germany. Horten introduced Germany’s first supermarket after a visit to the United States. With the copied business model his group expanded rapidly.
In 1968 he floated his group on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. At that moment Horten’s group had 25,000 employees and annual sales of USD 1 billion.
Sold his Company in 1972
In 1972 Horten sold his majority stake and retired from the business, which lost a great deal of value soon afterward. In 1994 the chain was bought by Kauhof Holding AG, and merged into the German retail group METRO AG in 1996.
