The sailing yacht Badis was built as Sybaris at Perini Navi. The yacht was delivered in 2016. It’s one of the largest Perini Navi yachts. She can accommodate 12 guests and has a crew of 11.
The yacht is designed by Philippe Briand. And her interior is designed by PH Design from Miami. At the 2017 World Superyacht Awards, the yacht was named ‘Sailing Yacht of the Year’. She also won the category for ‘Sailing Yachts 40m and Above’.
Sybaris was listed for sale. Her owner was asking EUR 88 million or (around) US$ 100 million. She was sold in 2018 to the King of Morocco, who named her Badis I.
The yacht’s owner is Mohammed VI, King of Morocco.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Pais the yacht is now owned by King Mohamed VI of Morocco. The yacht carries the Moroccan flag and is lying in Casablanca.
Badis is the name given to Morocco by the rock of Vélez de la Gomera, an enclave belonging to Spain since 1564. It is bordering the Moroccan city of Alhucemas.
Update: the yacht is even registered in his name Mohammed VI.
