His father owned a children’s clothing business, which owned the licensing rights of Pierre Carding and Polo Ralph Lauren in Canada. Lawrence started working at his father’s company at the age of 15. Lawrence started a business selling the Ralph Lauren brand in Europe.
Later he became a partner with Tommy Hilfiger. Together with the Hong Kong-based Silas Chou, he founded Sportswear Holdings Ltd.
Through Sportswear Holdings he acquired in 1989 the then relatively unknown Tommy Hilfiger brand. He built that into a worldwide brand with more than US$ 2 billion in sales.
In 1992 Hilfiger went public. And in 2006 the Hilfiger Corporation was acquired by Apax Partners for USD 1.6 billion.

In 2003 Sportswear Holdings acquired a 52 % stake in Michael Kors Holdings. For a reported US$ 85 million. When Kors went public in 2011 their share was valued at US$ 1.9 billion.

With the purchase Force India’s creditors were be paid in full. All 405 jobs at the team were saved. And ongoing funding was guaranteed. In the 2019 season, Lance Stroll became a driver at the team. Which was later named Racing Point.
Aston Martin Formula 1 Team
In January 2020 it was announced that Stroll would invest US$ 239 million in the struggling car brand Aston Martin. Stroll will pay $238 million for 16.7 % of Aston Martin at a price of £4 per share. The Canadian billionaire’s stake could rise to 20% if the rescue plan is successful. The deal means that Stroll’s Formula 1 team Racing Point will be rebranded as Aston Martin Formula 1 from 2021. Stroll is now Executive Chairman at Aston Martin.
Stroll’s wife and Lance’ mother is Claire Anne Stroll. She is a fashion designer and owner of the fashion brand Callens. She was born in Brussels, Belgium in the 1960s.

Stroll owns several houses. His main residence is believed to be in Montreal. But he also owns a large house in Mont Tremblant. Situated near his private race circuit. He is said to own properties in London and Switzerland as well.
