In 1971 Sir Stanley Thomas started a pie baking firm with his brother Peter Thomas. The company sold pies to local shops under the name Peter’s Savoury Products.
Peter’s Savoury Products expanded quickly and was sold in 1988 to Grand Metropolitan for GBP 100 million. Peter Thomas founded the real estate developer Atlantic Property Developments which grew into one of the leading property developers in Wales.
Stanley Thomas started TBI with developer Paul Bailey. TBI acquired several airports including Cardiff International, Belfast International, Orlando Sanford International, Stockholm Skavsta and London Luton. In 2004 TBI was sold for EUR 785 million to the Spanish companies Abertis Infraestructuras S.A. (90%) and AENA Desarrollo Internacional S.A. (10%). At that moment the Thomas family owned about 20 percent of TBI.
In 2012 the net worth of Peter and Stanley Thomas was GBP 225 million or around USD 300 million. Stanley Thomas sold his yacht Xanadu in 2010.
