Her interior is designed by Marco Zanini. He created a minimalist style, matching the exterior. The yacht features original artworks by Lichtenstein and Vasarely. The yacht design is military-styled. The luxury yacht has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. She is powered by 2 MTU diesel engines. Which bring her a top speed of 18 knots. Her cruise speed is 14 knots. She has a range of 3,500nm.
The yacht’s commssioning owner is Charles Simonyi.
The Owners First Yacht
Skat was the first yacht for her owner. While normally yacht owners grow into bigger yachts.
Skat means treasure in Danish (Simonyi worked and lived in Denmark for a few years). The story goes that Simonyi calls his Swedish wife Lisa Skat. The yacht is styled like Simonyi’s house in Medina, Washington.
New Yacht Skat
In May 2020 Lurssen launched a 90 meter + yacht, with similar styling as the current Skat. The yacht (or actually just the steel hull) was bearing the Hungarian, Swedish, and US flags. This is a direct link with Simonyi, as he was born in Hungary, his wife Lisa was born in Sweden. And they live in the US.
The new yacht has a similarly styled sky lounge as the current yacht. The biggest difference is a wave-piercing bow.
In November 2021 is was reported that Skat has been sold. Her sale was concluded by Stuart Larsen of Fraser who represented both the buyer and the seller.
