Mineralogy: A Mining Juggernaut

Clive Palmer’s significant influence in the mining sector can be attributed to his ownership of Mineralogy, a mining entity boasting reserves with a staggering 160 billion tonnes of iron ore. The vast potential of these reserves caught the attention of a Chinese firm, which shelled out a whopping US$ 415 million for mining rights.

The Expansive Reach of Waratah Coal

Further cementing his mining prowess, Palmer oversees Waratah Coal. Functioning as an exploration and coal mine development powerhouse, this wholly-owned subsidiary of Mineralogy Pty Ltd stands tall with an $8 billion coal mine and pivotal infrastructure projects in Central Queensland. Other jewels in Palmer’s mining crown include Queensland Nickel, Australasian Resources, and an apparent financial stake in CITIC Pacific Mining.

Palmer’s Foray into Hospitality

Diversifying his portfolio, Clive Palmer ventured into the hospitality realm with the Palmer Coolum Resort, a sprawling 150-hectare haven featuring 2 kilometers of pristine beach and an 18-hole Par 72 championship golf course. Additionally, golf aficionados can relish the experience at Palmer’s other resorts like the Palmer Gold Coast Golf Resort and the Palmer Sea Reef golf sanctuary.

Political Ambitions with the United Australia Party

Donning the hat of a political leader, Palmer rejuvenated the United Australia Party in 2013, a party that initially thrived from 1931 until 1945. Embodying right-wing populist ideologies and Australian nationalism, the party’s clarion call is “Make Australia Great”.

Clive Palmer’s Financial Milestones

With a jaw-dropping net worth pegged at $2 billion, Palmer’s financial acumen was highlighted in 2019 when a Western Australia Court mandated the Chinese state-owned entity CITIC to shell out significant royalties to Mineralogy, resulting in a monumental $US 149 million in back-payments.

Titanic II

In February 2013 he announced a plan to build a modern-day replica of the liner RMS Titanic. The ocean liner would be built in China. And it would make its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City.

Titanic II will have every modern amenity along with 21st-century technology. And the latest navigation and safety systems. Around 2015 the project seemed to be abandoned.

However, in 2018 it was announced by Palmer’s company Blue Star Line that work on the project would start again.

The AUSTRALIA Yacht is a luxurious vessel built by the famous Italian shipyard, Benetti, and designed by Stefano Natucci.

First launched in 2012, she initially sailed as the Ulysses, later becoming the BASH, before finally settling as the AUSTRALIA Yacht under current owner Clive Palmer.

With her Caterpillar diesel engines, she flaunts a max speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots, covering more than 3,000 nautical miles without the need for refuelling.
