Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. is an American television and radio broadcasting corporation based in Minnesota. The family business was founded by his father Stanley. The company owns 13 TV stations and more than 40 radio stations.
Hubbard Radio operates 40 radio stations in Chicago, Washington, D.C, and Seattle. And in Phoenix, Minneapolis- St. Paul, St. Louis, and Cincinnati.
Hubbard Media Group, LLC owns and operates cable/satellite networks. KSTP-TV, Channel 5, is an ABC affiliate serving the Twin Cities area. And central Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Which is the 15th largest market in the U.S.
KSTC.TV, Channel 45, is the only fully independent television station in Minneapolis. In 1998 Hubbard sold his satellite TV company for US$ 1.3 billion.
He is the founder of Hubbard Aviation Technologies. Which produces a sound muffler for Gulfstream airplanes. Stanley has owned several Gulfstream airplanes. And he was an early investor in hush kit technology. This is a sound-reducing technology.
He outfitted his Gulfstream GII-SP with a prototype hush kit. Which was designed by Stage III Technologies. And he was so impressed with the product that he bought the intellectual property. He built a company to manufacture and market it.
His net worth is estimated at $2 billion. Hubbard is an active philanthropist, supporting students and faculty at the University of Minnesota.
After a gift of US$ 10 million in 2000 to the University of Minnesota. The university formed the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
