The Google story begins in 1995 at Stanford University. Larry Page was considering Stanford for grad school and Sergey Brin, a student there, was assigned to show him around. By some accounts, they disagreed about nearly everything during that first meeting, but by the following year they struck a partnership.
Working from their dorm rooms, they built a search engine that used links to determine the importance of individual pages on the World Wide Web. They called this search engine Backrub. Soon after, Backrub was renamed Google.
The name was a play on the mathematical expression for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros and aptly reflected Larry and Sergey's mission “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful’
Sergey Brin is now CEO of Google's parent company Alphabet Inc. Alphabet’s group companies include Google, Capital G (Google’s venture capital fund), Google Fiber (providing broadband Internet) and Google X (a research and development company.
Alphabet realizes more than US$ 110 billion in sales, with more than 81,000 employees. Larry Page has 25.9% of the voting power in Alphabet, while Sergey Brin has 25.2%. So together they have absolute power.
The net worth of Sergey Brin is estimated at US$ 54 billion.
Brin owns a large house in California. He also owns a large mansion in New Jersey, near New York. The latter was purchased in 2015 for US$ 49 million.
The house has 42 rooms, 12 bathrooms, a home theater, spa/fitness center, indoor basketball and a 4,000 bottle wine cellar. There is an elevator, staff quarters and a motor court with garaging for 11 cars.
We are not sure if Sergey Brin owns another jet. We do know that Google executives use a jet owned by Google Chairman Eric Schmidt (owner of the yacht Oasis)
The yacht Dragonfly was was built by Silver Yachts as Silver Zwei. She was built as a speculation project and was delivered in 2009. In 2011 she was purchased by Sergey Brin. Dragonfly can accommodate 14 guests and a crew of 16.
The yacht is designed by Espen Oeino. Dragonfly is powered by two MTU engines, which bring her a top speed of 27 knots and a range of 4,500 at 18 knots. Dragonfly is famous for providing aid to local people of Vanuatu after the damage of Cyclone Pam in 2015.
