Who is Richard Caring?
Richard Caring is the founder of International Clothing Designs (ICD). He was born on June 4, 1948. He is married to Patricia Caring.
Richard started working in his father’s clothing company Louis Caring Originals, which sourced knitwear for retailers. When the family company lost business, Richard brought new business by creating a range of mini-skirts, of which soon more than 25,000 per week were sold.
After visiting Hong Kong he saw opportunities by outsourcing production there and he founded International Clothing Designs.
International Clothing Designs
ICD started importing mass-produced clothing from manufacturers in Hong Kong into the UK market. At the top of its success, ICD supplied 70% of the clothing sold by British high-street retailers. Clients included Marks & Spencer, and Philip Green‘s Arcadia Group.
Real Estate and Restaurants
With ICD’s profits, Caring started to invest in real estate. After buying the famous Wentworth Golf Club, he started to focus on restaurants. He now owns several chains of restaurants, including Annabel’s, The Ivy Collection, and Caprice.
