Constructed in Denmark by Helsingor Vaerft in 1984, the Prince Abdulaziz yacht was commissioned by King Fahd and named in honor of his son, Prince Abdul Aziz. For many years, the Prince Abdulaziz held the title of the world’s largest yacht.
In 2007, the yacht underwent a refit that included the installation of a new interior. Rare interior photos of the yacht Abdulaziz can be found online. With a home port in Jeddah, the vessel is often spotted in Spain and used to visit the Cannes area frequently, as the Royal Family owns a summer palace nearby. Occasionally, the yacht also makes trips to Ibiza.
Equipped with two 12-cylinder Pielstick engines, the Prince Abdulaziz boasts a top speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots. Capable of accommodating 64 guests and a crew of 65, the yacht stands as an impressive testament to luxury and engineering.
Helsingor Vaerft, the shipyard responsible for the construction of the Prince Abdulaziz, also built Saddam Hussain’s yacht, the Basrah Breeze.
The yacht’s owner is Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud. Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud is a member of the Saudi royal family and a grandson of King Abdulaziz, the founder of Saudi Arabia.
