He lives with his wife Christine in a large penthouse overlooking the harbor of Monaco. He also owns a large estate in South Africa. We believe he also owns a castle in Scotland, but have not been able to identify the property.

Laidlaw is also an active regatta sailor and owns and has owned many sailing yachts, all named Highland Fling.
His latest sailing yacht is the Botin 56 Highland Fling 16. And he still owns his Swan Highland Fling 15.
