The yacht Jubilee was built for the late Emir of Qatar. Jubilee is the largest yacht ever built in The Netherlands. Jubilee is a 110 meter (361 ft) motor yacht. Built by Oceanco in the Netherlands. Her exterior is designed by Igor Lobanov. While Sam Sorgiovanni is responsible for her interior.
The yacht can accommodate 30 guests in 15 cabins. Of which 1 owner suite, 4 VIP suites, and 10 guests suites.
On the owner’s deck there is a PA cabin. So total guests is 31. The yacht can also accommodate 45 crew.
The cabins for the captain and first officer are on the bridge deck. While there are 7 larger cabins for officers. And 15 normal cabins for other crew.
The yacht’s features include a large swimming pool. There is a helicopter deck with fuel facilities. And a large elevator, a hammam, a steam room, a gym, and a large beach club. There is also a club lounge and a large majelis.
She is powered by 2 MTU diesel engines. Which brings her a top speed of 18.5 knots. Her cruise speed is 15 knots. She has a range of 5,300nm.
A Majelis is an Arabic term meaning “a place of sitting”. It is used in the context of “council”. To describe various types of special gatherings. The term Majlis is also used to refer to a private place where guests are received and entertained.
This Majelis area on the yacht supports the fact that her original owner is from an Arabic region. There is also a hospital and a dedicated crew gym.
The yacht was built for Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani. He is the former Emir of Qatar. He died in October 2016 at the age of 84. He was the grandfather of the current Emir of Qatar.
The Dutch magazine Quote disclosed that the yacht was formally registered in the Dutch Shipping Register. The registry was on the name of Al Menwar Limited. The Al Menwar name is linked to the Al Thani family.
Al Menwar used to be the royal yacht of Qatar. Also the yacht’s color Turquoise is a link to the Al Thanis. As their supercar collection has the same color.
Following the Emir’s death, the yacht Jubilee was put for sale through Burgess. Asking price EUR 275 million or US$ 310 million.
We were told –
The sale was denied at first. But in November 2018 it was disclosed that Jubilee was actually sold. Update: Burgess Yachts denied that Kroenke is the buyer. But it may not be a coincidence that the Walton family’s current yacht Secret was listed for sale early 2019.
We were informed that Nancy Walton Laurie is the actual buyer of the yacht. Jubilee will probably be named Secret III.
