Who is Alfonso Fanjul?
Alfonso Fanjul is the Chairman of ASR Group (Sugar). Together with his brother Pepe Fanjul he is known as the Fanjul Brothers. He was born in June 1937. He is married to Raysa Fanjul.
Their father Alfonso Sr was a successful sugar can grower in Cuba. When Fidel Castro seized the family’s assets, the Fanjul family asked political asylum in the United States.
In Florida, the family continued their sugar mill activities.

The Fanjul family founded Florida Crystals Corporation in 1960 as a sugarcane farming and milling company in Palm Beach County, Florida. Florida Crystals owns two sugar mills, a sugar refinery, a rice mill, a packaging and a distribution center. It owns more than 190,000 acres of land.
ASR Group
ASR Group is now the largest cane sugar refiner and marketer in the world. It has more than 20,000 employees in Florida and the Dominican Republic.
