Moncler is an Italian fashion company, with French roots. It was founded by Rene Ramillon in 1952. The name is an abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, a village in the mountains near Grenoble.
In 1999, Ruffini became the creative director of Moncler and in 2003 he became the controlling shareholder.
Nowadays Moncler realizes annual revenues of more than EUR 1 billion and a net profit of EUR 180 million.

His net worth is estimated at $2 billion. In 2016 he sold some of the shares in his holding company Ruffini Partecipazioni S.r.l. After the transaction, Ruffini still owned 26.7% of the Moncler shares.

Remo is married to Francesca Ruffini, an Italian fashion designer and founder of the sleepwear brand F.R.S. (For Restless Sleepers).
