Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said
He was the Sultan of Oman and its Dependencies. He rose to power after overthrowing his father, Said bin Taimur. In a palace coup in July 1970.
He was the 14th-generation descendant of the founder of the Al Bu Sa’idi dynasty. He was the longest-serving leader in the Middle East and Arab world, having held the office since 1970.
He died on January 10, 2020, at the age of 79. He had no children.
The Sultan of Oman was the owner of the luxury yacht Al Said and her support vessel Fulk Al Salamah.
MY Fulk Al Salamah Yacht
Fulk Al Salamah is the support vessel for Al Said. Fulk al Salamah was built in Italy at Mariotti shipyard. She was delivered in 2016.
At 164 meters (538ft) she is longer than the yacht Al Said. And her volume is also bigger (20,361 GT v.s. 15,850 GT for Al Said). These dimensions make her the biggest yacht in the world.
However, she isn’t really used as a yacht. She acts as the support vessel for the yacht Al Said. And she is crewed by the Omani Navy. And while Al Said has large windows in her living spaces, Fulk Al Salmah only has ‘small’ cruise ship like windows.
So therefore she is often disregarded in ‘largest yachts of the world lists’.
