The yacht OceanXplorer is a converted oceanographic research vessel. She was built as Volstad Surveyor by Freire in 2010. In 2019 she was sent to Damen Shipyard for a conversion into an exploration, research and media vessel/yacht. She is capable of exploring the most unreachable places on Earth.
Specifications
The vessel is equipped with Rolls Royce AZP 100 diesel-electric propulsion. Her top speed is 16 knots. Her cruising speed is 11 knots. Her range is more than 6,000nm.
Interior
The motor yacht can accommodate more than 60 crew and guests.
Mission Control
The vessels Mission control functions as a central nervous system. All of the data collected from OceanXplorer’s deep-sea vehicles, CTD, and other sensors are input into a centralized mission data management platform. Outputs from the data management system can be input into specific software for more in-depth data analysis.
Wet and Dry Labs
The vessel’s four lab’s capabilities include microscopy, aquarium tanks, genetic sequencing, bio-fluorescent imaging, and visualization of samples from the ship’s various sensors.
Helicopter
The luxury yacht carries a large helicopter in an onboard hangar. the helicopter is equipped to search long-range, to deploy research teams and film.

The vessel’s media center creates digital content and other media productions
