SuperYachtFan received two different tips about the owner of the yacht Bread. One said that Galen Weston is the owner of the yacht (he easily can afford her, with a net worth of more than USD 10 billion). But later we were informed that Robert Owen Oskam is the owner of Bread. Not much is publicized about mr Oskam, but he owns one of the largest bakeries in the USA. One of his brandnames is Rothbury Farms, but the company also produces for Kellog, General Mills, Quaker Oats and Frito-Lay. The company is not seeking exposure and does not even have a logo on most of its (more than) 18 buildings and bakeries. The company has more than 1,000 employees.
Galen Weston is Chairman of George Weston Limited, a large retail and food processing group. The Weston Group consists - among others - of Weston Foods, Canada’s largest bakery, Loblaw Companies, a supermarket chain and the Selfridges Group, a luxury goods retailer. The Weston group was founded by Galen’s grand father, who started as a bread salesman and became Canada’s largest baker. This explains the name of Galen Weston’s yacht: Bread. In 2013 the Weston Group realized sales of CAD 34 billion with a net earning of CAD 900 million. According to the 2013 annual accounts Galen Weston owns 63 % of the shares, this means he received some CAD 130 million in dividends in 2013. Galen Weston and his wife Hilary are active philanthropists, donating tens of millions of dollars to good causes. Forbes estimates the net worth of Galen Weston at USD 10.7 billion.
The yacht Bread is owned by either Robert Owen Roskam or Galen Weston
