The owner of luxury yacht Al Mirqab is Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber bin Muhammad Al Thani.
Sheikh Al Thani was the Prime Minister of Qatar, a position he has held from 3 April 2007 until June 2013, and Foreign Minister, which he has been since 11 January 1992 until 2013.
In 2012 Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber bin Muhammad Al Thani purchased a USD 100 million penthouse at the One57 tower in Midtown Manhattan. And in May 2015, Hamad purchased Picasso's Les Femmes d'Alger (Version O) for US$180 million, a record price for a painting at auction.
His yacht Al Mirqab is one of the largest yachts in the world. The yacht was built by the German shipyard Peters Schiffbau in 2008. She is designed byTim Heywood, while Andrew Winch is responsible for her luxurious interior. Al Mirqab has a large swimming pool on the lower deck, which can be opened up to the sea by opening side hatches in the hull. In 2014 Al Mirqab underwent a refit, a new sundeck was installed and her interior was redone.
