Ahmed Zaki Yamani was a Saudi Arabian politician who was Minister of Oil (Petroleum) and Mineral Resources from 1962 until 1986 in his country. He was a minister in OPEC for 25 years. He was born in 1930 and died in 2021 aged 91. He was married to Tammam. He had 8 children. He resided in Switzerland.

In July 1982 Yamani founded Investcorp, a private equity firm, with several other oil ministers and well-known financiers.
The firm’s initial investments included Tiffany & Co., Breguet, a Swiss watchmaker, and Chaumet, French jewelers. Yamani, himself is known to be a watch lover, also became the majority shareholder of Vacheron Constantin in 1987.
In 1996 Yamani’s shares were sold to Vendôme Luxury Group, owned by Richemond.
