Igor Makarov is a Russian billionaire and owner of the gas producer Itera. He was born in April 1962. We believe he is married and has 2 children. Until 2015 he owned three yachts named Areti, Areti I and Areti II. The name Areti is derived from Makarov’s company’s name Itera (spelled backward).
Itera International is one of the largest independent producers and traders of natural gas operating in the CIS and the Baltic states.
ITERA is active in the energy, gas processing, and construction works projects in Europe, Asia, and the USA. The Company also deals with real estate and the insurance business.
Makarov is President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ITERA International. ITERA has been involved in the production of natural gas in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region (YaNAO) in Western Siberia (Russia) since 1998.

In 2013 Makarov sold all his shares in Itera to Rosneft US$2.9 billion. Makarov nows owns the Areti Group.
Makarov is also the founder of Katyusha, the Russian professional cycling team of the World Tour, and he is president of the Russian Cycling Federation.
