The yacht Samadhi was built by Feadship in 2006 as April Fool.
The 61 meter Feadship can accommodate 14 guests and a crew of 20. Her interior is designed by Janet Leroy.
The luxury yacht is powered by 2 Caterpillar marine engines. Which bring her a top speed of 16 knots. Her cruising speed is 13 knots. She has a range of 5,000nm.
Samadhi is a term used in yoga where the mind becomes still, one-pointed, or concentrated while individual awareness remains present.
The yacht’s owner is Third Point founder Daniel Loeb.
Damaged Coral Reef in Belize
In February 2020 Bloomberg reported that Daniel Loeb’s yacht Samadhi has damaged Coral Reef in Belize.
While on a charter trip, the yacht was anchored on a patch of sand off the coast of Belize, and the anchor was inadvertently dragged onto the coral.
A spokesperson said Loeb was not in the vessel at the time.
As a life-long surfer and someone who loves the ocean, I was horrified to hear about this incident in Belize,” Loeb said in a statement. “We promptly contacted the Belize Audubon Society (a conservation group) and are committed to working together to restore the reef.”
In 2021 the yacht was sent to Feadship’s facilities in Amsterdam, for a small refit and some maintenance works.
The Samadhi yacht was built as April Fool for US banker Sandy Weill. In 2013 Weill sold his yacht for around US$ 50 million to Loeb.
