David MacNeil is the founder and CEO of WeatherTech. He was born in March 1959. He is divorced and has 3 children. Macneil founded his company in 1989. He started importing floor mats from the UK. But soon began manufacturing in the USA.

WeatherTech is an American company, producing, buying, and hiring only American resources. The company currently distributes to over 84 countries worldwide. And has more than 1,600 employees.

The company is owned by MacNeil. Weathertech is the main sponsor of the Laguna Seca circuit in California, as well as the IMSA SportsCar series.

MacNeil owns an extensive collection of rare cars, including Ferrari’s, Porsche’s, Aston Martins, BMW’s, Mercedes plus significant American muscle cars. In 2017 his rare 1967 Ferrari 300GTS was sold at auction for US$ 2.5 million.
In June 2018 he reportedly purchased a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO for US$ 80 million.

WeatherTech is sponsor for the sports car racing series. It is organized by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA).
There are three different classes in the United SportsCar Championship series. Featuring one sports prototype category and two grand tourer classes.
