John Caudwell is the founder of UK mobile phones retailer Phones4U. He was born in October 1952. He was married to Kate for 25 years. He has 5 children, including daughters Rebekah Caudwell and Rhiannon Caudwell, and son Rufus Caudwell.
Caudwell is the founder of Phones4U. He started the company, then named Midlands Mobile Phones, in 1987 together with his brother Brian Caudwell.
The group grew rapidly to USD 1 billion in sales in 2000 with more than 500 stores in the UK. In 2006 the Phones4U was sold for GBP 1,5 billion to private equity investors.
Forbes estimates his net worth at $3 billion. He is an active philanthropist supporting disabled children through his Caudwell Children foundation.
He founded the Caudwell Lyme Disease Charity when his ex-wife and children were diagnosed with Lyme disease. Caudwell has his own website.
