He is the founder of the Russian retail chain Magnit. He was born in 1967 near Sochi in Russia. He graduated from Kuban State University. He founded the wholesale company Tander (Russian for Thunder) in 1994.
In a few years, the company became one of the largest grocery distributors in Russia.
Galitskiy also founded Transasia in the same period, Transasia became the exclusive distributor of Procter and Gamble products in certain parts of Russia. As Transasia was not allowed to sell P&G’s competitor products, Galitky founded Magnit.

Krasnodar is a Russian football club playing in the Russian Premier League. It was founded by Galitsky in 2008. He is now Chairman and owner of the club. Over 10 years he reportedly invested more than US$ 400 million.
He was rewarded by the Russian Football Union for his dedication to the development of football in Russia.
His net worth is estimated at US$ 3.5 billion. Magnit became stock listed in 2006, Galitsky still holds around 40% of the shares.
