The fashion brand Loro Piana was founded in 1924 by Pier Luigi’s great-grandfather Pietro. The company started with wool spinning and later started the export of high-quality fabrics. It focussed on cashmere and extra fine wools. Under the management of Pier Luigi and his brother Sergio, the company diversified into luxury goods and interior fabrics.
In 2013, 80% of the shares of Loro Piana were sold to Bernard Arnault’s LVMH for $2.6 billion.
