Gene Machine was built as Engelberg. For Russian entrepreneur Dmitry Yakubovskiy. Yakubovskiy and his brother Stav Jacobi founded the Engelberg Industrial Group (EIG). The company is based in Engelberg, Switzerland.
In July 2017 Gene Machine was in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The yacht is said to have a laboratory on board.
The yacht’s owner is Jonathan Rothberg. He also owns her support vessel Gene Chaser.
