The yacht Scout is named after the owners’ dog Scout (the project was known as Brio, named after the owners’ other dog).

The yacht Scout is currently under construction at Hakvoort. Her owners are James Berwind and Kevin Clark.

Scout was originally started as Project Zeus for a Russian owner. He withdrew from the project. The project was re-branded ‘Something Cool’ and was listed for sale again, asking EUR 60 million. The project was bought by James Berwind, who named her Scout after one of his dogs.

During construction she was named Project Brio, named after another dog of the owners. Scout can accommodate 10 guests and a crew of 14.

Scout is powered by 2 Caterpillar Engines, which bring her a top speed of 15 knots. The yacht Scout will probably be delivered in 2019.

Kevin Clark - James BerwindJames Berwind

James Berwind is a son of the late Charles Graham Berwind, who headed the family’s company Berwind Corporation.

James’ father Charles Graham Berwind was the owner of the yacht Laurel, now owned by Tom Golisano.

James and Kevin own two dogs: Scout and Brio. The dogs have their own Instagram account.

James Berwind and Kevin Clark previously owned the 45 meter yacht Scout built at RMK Marine. The yacht was sold and is now named Calliope, we think she is now owned by Angus C Littlejohn.

Berwind lives with his partner Kevin Clark in a large mansion named Tarpon Cove in Palm Beach, Florida.


James and Kevin are active philanthropist, donating to good causes as human rights foundations and animal welfare.

Berwind Corporation

Berwind Corporation was founded in 1886. The company was active in the coal mine industry. The company used it’s cash flow to invest in other activities such as real estate and chemicals The company is now an investment holding.

Current investments include BWA Water Additives, CRC Industries and Well Pet. Berwind has more than 6,000 employees. Berwind is still owned by the Berwind family members.
