Following the success of Bonus, Johannesson acquired other retailers and fashion companies. He also acquired stakes in banks, forming the Glitnir bank.
Following the Icelandic financial crisis the Baugur group collapsed and filed for bankruptcy in 2009.
Jón Ásgeir was charged by the Office of the Special Prosecutor in connection with his role in the financial crisis, but as of June 2017 he has been cleared two times in the same case.

The yacht 101 was named after some companies owned by Ingibjörg Stefanía Pálmadóttir. She owns a boutique hotel named 101, she owned an investment firm named 101 Capital, and she still owns 365, a media and TV company in Iceland.
The yacht Bliss is built at Heesen Yachts and delivered in 2007. There are more yachts with the name One O One, such as a Tarrab from 2007 and a 36 meter Technomar from 2008. We are not sure whether Johannesson also owns these yachts.
