Aquila was built as Cakewalk for Charles Gallagher
The yacht Aquila (ex Cakewalk) is the largest private luxury yacht built in the US since the 1930s.
She was built by Derecktor Shipyards and delivered to her owner in 2010. Her exterior design was done by Tim Heywood, while her interior was designed by Dalton Designs. She can accommodate 14 guests, with a crew of 26. She has a steel hull with aluminum superstructure.
Put for Sale in 2011 and Purchased by a Walton Family Member
The yacht Cakewalk was put for sale in 2011 and was finally sold in December 2014. She had an asking price of EUR 119 million or approx. USD 150 million. She is now named Aquila and is owned by the Walton family.
2016 Refit at Pendennis
In 2016 she was send to Pendennis for a refit, which would become the largest refit project to date. 750 sqm if interor was stripped an recreated to the new owners taste. An amazing feature is an 11 meter custum made chandelier stretching over 4 decks. Also the superstructure was repainted and several technical and communication systems were upgraded.
