The yacht’s owner is UK billionaire Lord Alan Sugar. Sugar previously owned the Schweers yacht Louisiana. Which was built as Margaux Rose for Fiat owner Gianni Agnelli.
Built for Alan Bond
She was delivered in 1986 to her then-owner Alan Bond. Alan Bond was an Australian entrepreneur, active in real estate, energy, and media.
In 1992 he was declared bankrupt and in 1997 he was convicted of fraud and sentenced to seven years in prison.
At the time of his death in 2015, his net worth was estimated at more than $200 million.
Sold to Vijay Mallya and named Indian Princess
Following his financial problems Southern Cross was sold and renamed Indian Princess, and was probably owned by Vijay Mallya.
Later her name was changed back to Southern Cross and in 2012 she was sold again and named Emihar Chios, while owned by Greek shipping tycoon Harry Vafias, CEO of Stealth Gas.
In 2015 she was purchased by Lord Sugar and named Lady A.
