Azzam is the world’s largest yacht, with a length of 180 meters. Azzam is actually “just” the world’s longest yacht, as superyacht Dilbar has a higher volume and bigger displacement.
The yacht was built by luxury yacht builder Lürssen for an estimated build price of US$ 600 million. We come to this value due to her large displacement (13,136 ton). And a market value of around US$ 60,000 per ton for Northern European-built yachts. Her exterior design and styling is done by Nauta Yachts.
The yacht’s Interior design is done by French designer Christophe Leoni, who has designed a sophisticated and luxurious interior in Empire style.
She is able to navigate at speeds of more than 30 knots. The yacht is powered by a combination of two gas turbines and two diesel engines with a total of 94,000 horsepower.
She has a shallow draft for her size, but this allows her to reach the high top speed.
A Bullet Proof Owners Suite
She is rumored to feature a bullet-proof master suite and a missile defense system. Azzam was delivered to her owner in October 2013. In March 2014 she was heading back to the Lurssen yard in Breme. For some post-delivery works.
May 2014 update: pretty new photos made by ship-dreams.de of Azzam at the Lurssen yard. Also, an amazing new video of Azzam sailing back to the yard, see hereunder.
Not much is known about her interior. There are no Azzam inside photos available. But she has accommodations for 36 guests and a crew of 60. It is said that she carries a missile defense system and a submarine.
The boat is not available for yacht charter. And the yacht is not listed for sale.
The yacht’s owner is the Ruler of Abu Dhabi
