MY Aquila is the largest private luxury yacht built in the US since the 1930s. She is powered by MTU engines. Her max speed is 17 knots. Her cruising speed is 14 knots. She has a steel hull with an aluminum superstructure.
She was built by Derecktor Shipyards. And was delivered to her owner in 2010. Her exterior design was done by Tim Heywood.
The interior of the motor yacht is designed by Dalton Designs. She can accommodate 14 guests. With a crew of 26.
Put for Sale in 2011 and Purchased by a Walton Family Member
The yacht Cakewalk was put for sale in 2011. And she was finally sold in December 2014.
She had an asking price of EUR 119 million or approx. USD 150 million. The luxury yacht is now named Aquila and is owned by the Walton family.
2016 Refit at Pendennis
In 2016 she was sent to Pendennis for a refit. Which would become the largest refit project to date. 750 sqm io interior was stripped and recreated to the new owner’s taste.
Her new interior is designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon and Susan Young Interiors. The new forward sun deck offers a large jacuzzi. A day bar and treatment room.
An amazing feature is an 11-meter custom-made chandelier. It is stretching over 4 decks. Also, the superstructure was repainted. And several technical and communication systems were upgraded.
The yacht’s owner is Ann Walton. Her husband Stan Kroenke owns the yacht Seanna.
