The yacht Blue Eyes is owned by Juan Miguel Villar Mir, one the richest men in Spain. He purchased her from Eduardo Tabachhi. Eduardo Tabachhi is the owner of the Italian optician chain Salmoiraghie & Vigano. Salmoiraghie & Vigano is Italy’s largest eyewear chain with more than 500 stores. Tabacchi purchased the group in 2002. Before that he was the owner – with his brothers - of the optical retail chain Safilo, now the world’s second largest eyewear company. Around 2001 Eduardo sold his shares to his brother Vittorio, who in 2010 sold the company to Dutch investor Hal Holding NV. In 2012 the yacht Blue Eyes was acquired by Juan Miguel VILLAR MIR. Villar Mir is the owner of the Spanish company Grupo Villar Mir. Grupo Villar Mir is active in energy, (Villar Mir Energy), iron and steel (Ferroatlantica), vertilizers (Fertiberia) and construction (OHL Obrascon Huarte Lain sa.). In 2010 the group realised EUR 7 billlion of sales, with a net profit of EUR 476 million. Juan Miguel VILLAR MIR’s net worth is estimated at USD 3.6 billion.
