Ice was built for Augusto Perfetti, owner of the Mentos brand
The yacht Ice was built by the famous Lurssen yard in 2005. The yacht was originally named Air, and was ordered by the Italian candy producer Augusto Perfetti.
Perfetti is known for the famous Mentos brand. During the construction of the yacht, Perfetti received an offer from Kerimov he could not refuse. Augusto Perfetti ordered a new yacht, again named Air, at the Dutch yacht builder De Vries.

In December 2016 is was reported by a French newspaper that Suleiman Kerimov has sold his yacht Ice in 2915 to Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, the Vice President of Equatorial Guinea. They also reported that the yacht was confiscated in Gibraltar following a request by a Swiss public prosecutor, related to a fraud investigation.
