Ice was built for Augusto Perfetti, owner of the Mentos brand

The yacht Ice was built by the famous Lurssen yard in 2005. The yacht was originally named Air, and was ordered by the Italian candy producer Augusto Perfetti.


Built for Perfetti

Perfetti is known for the famous Mentos brand. During the construction of the yacht, Perfetti received an offer from Kerimov he could not refuse. Augusto Perfetti ordered a new yacht, again named Air, at the Dutch yacht builder De Vries.


Azipod propulsion system

Luxury yacht Ice has a diesel - electric Azipod propulsion system. In the Azipod, the propulsion power is delivered by an electric motor directly connected to the propeller. The diesel engines, connected to a generator, produces electricity for the Azipod motor. This system achieves a 10% better fuel economy than conventional systems. Ice has a modern Terence Disdale interior.

Suleiman Kerimov is one of the richest Russians, he is a Russian billionaire with a net worth estimated at USD 7.5 billion. He started by investing in troubled companies through his Fedprombank.


Russian investments

His investments included Polymetal, Gazprom, Sberbank and Nafta Moskva. In 2008 he sold all his Russian investments. He then invested in Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and lost billions in the financial crisis. In 2009 – with help from Russian investors – he bought 37% of Polyus Gold a Russian gold producer. In 2011 he acquired a controlling stake in Uralkali.


Ferrari Enzo car crash

In 2006 Suleiman Kerimov had a heavy car accident with his Ferrari Enzo in Nice. He suffered severe burns. Later he donated EUR 1 million to Pinocchio — a charity for children suffering from burns.  


Charity

In 2007 Kerimov founded the Suleyman Kerimov Foundation. The Kerimov Foundation works closely with the government, meaning their projects have much better long-term prospects. The Kerimov Foundation is one of the most active and effective charity foundations in the country. Kerimov is a member of the Federation Council of Russia representing the Republic of Dagestan.


Two Boeing 737 Business Jets

Kerimov owns two Boeing 737 BBJ business jets: one from 2008 with registration VP-BBW and one from 2012 with registration VP-BBW. Each has a value of around US$ 100 million.
